Delhi School of Economics: Admission, Fees, Eligibility, etc.

The Delhi School of Economics (DSE), sometimes known as D School, is a university located inside the University of Delhi. The Delhi School of Economics is located in Maurice Nagar on the North Campus of the University of Delhi. The Ratan Tata Library and the departments of Economics, Sociology, Geography, and Commerce of the University of Delhi are located on the Delhi School of Economics campus, which was founded in 1949. The Faculty of Social Sciences houses the Department of Economics, Sociology, and Geography, while the Faculty of Commerce and Business Studies houses the Department of Commerce. These are the four academic departments.

The admission to MBA (HRD) and MBA (IB) courses is done through two layered
process including:

  1. Eligibility criteria
  2. Final admission selection criteria

Weightages for the final admission selection criteria:

The following grading system is used for the marks obtained in class X and XII.

DSE: Selection Procedure

Applicants can register themselves online for admission to MBA programs (HRD and
IB) through our website, i.e. www.commerce.du.ac.in

When completing the online application form, the candidate must indicate their option for the MBA (HRD) and MBA (IB) courses. At later phases, the preferred course cannot be altered. When the merit list of candidates is announced, taking into account all the factors—CAT score and class X and class XII marks—the same will be utilised.

A waiting list and merit list will be created course-by-course in order to invite individuals for in-person counselling, if necessary, based on their preferences and merit.

The application fee for MBA (HRD) and MBA (IB) courses is:-

INDIAN CANDIDATES

passed the University of Delhi’s Bachelor’s Degree test, or an exam recognised as comparable to it in any discipline, with a minimum of 50% overall or a grade system equivalent. Students in the reserved group may be eligible for a relaxation of eligibility based on university regulations.
appeared for the Indian Institute of Management’s (IIMs) CAT 2022.

Note: Applicants may apply if they will be sitting for the bachelor’s degree final exam. But only if they present a result at the time of admission that satisfies the minimal eligibility requirements will the chosen candidates be eligible for admission.

FOREIGN STUDENTS

For the purposes of registration and admission in the university’s various departments and colleges, all foreign applicants—including those who have completed their education from an Indian Board—may be treated as foreign students. They may also be eligible for admission under the 5% quota set aside for foreign students. In order to apply for admission to postgraduate programmes, overseas applicants should use the overseas Students’ Registry Portal at http://fsr.du.ac.in. Eligibility conditions for Foreign Nationals for admission to MBA(HRD/IB)
course:

  • For foreign nationals, a GMAT score of 650 is required.
  • Foreign nationals who hold degrees from either country but are not now residing in India may apply through the relevant Consulate or Embassy and must have a minimum GMAT score of 650.
  • Such a candidate ought to be supported by fellowships from both recognised international agencies and/or their home country.
  • Foreign nationals holding degrees from other countries must submit their TOEFL and GMAT results.

Reservation Policy

The reservation policy related to admissions will be followed as per the University of Delhi rules.

Reservation of Seats for Schedule Caste (SC) / Tribe (ST) Applicants

The minimal passing score on the relevant University of Delhi qualifying test will serve as the SC/ST applicants’ minimum eligibility condition. For the purpose of being admitted to this University’s postgraduate programme, SC/ST applicants who have passed their previous qualifying exam from another university must have received at least the same percentage of pass marks in that exam as required for the University of Delhi’s equivalent exam. The following recognise the certificates for OBC, EWS, SC, and ST:

  1. District Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate / Collector / Deputy
  2. Commissioner / Additional Deputy Commissioner / Deputy Collector / 1st
  3. Class Stipendiary Magistrate / City Magistrate / Sub-Divisional Magistrate /
  4. Taluka Magistrate / Executive Magistrate / Extra Assistant Commissioner.
  5. Chief Presidency Magistrate / Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate /
    Presidency Magistrate.
  6. Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
  7. Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the Applicant and/or his family
    normally resides.
  8. Administrator / Secretary to the Administrator / Development Officer
    (Lakshadweep Islands).

Only SC/ST candidates are eligible to fill the seats set aside for them.
Nonetheless, the SC and ST may switch the reserved seats in the event that no qualified candidates are available. Any seat that is still empty will be left unoccupied.
