IIM Bangalore Introduces Undergraduate Programs from August 2026
In a landmark development, the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has announced the launch of two full-time, four-year Bachelor of Science (Hons) undergraduate programs, starting from August 2026. These courses aim to blend academic depth with industry relevance, focusing on both analytical thinking and business readiness.
These will be residential, full-time UG programs offered at IIMB’s upcoming Jigani Campus, located 27 km from the current Bannerghatta Road campus.
The two programs are:
- B.Sc. (Hons) in Economics with a minor in Data Science and Business
- B.Sc. (Hons) in Data Science with a minor in Economics and Business
Each program will admit 40 students per year and will include structured placement support. Students will also have the option to exit after three years with a valid undergraduate degree.

Eligibility Criteria
IIM Bangalore has outlined the following eligibility guidelines for its UG admissions in 2026:
- Age Limit:
- General Category: Not more than 20 years as of August 1, 2025
- Reserved Categories: Not more than 22 years as of August 1, 2025
- General Category: Not more than 20 years as of August 1, 2025
- Academic Requirements:
- Minimum 60% marks in Class 10
- Must have studied Mathematics in Classes 11 and 12
- Minimum 60% marks in Mathematics
- Minimum 60% marks in Class 10
These criteria clearly indicate that the courses are geared towards students with strong analytical and quantitative aptitude.
Admission Process for IIM-B UG Programs
Admission will be based on an entrance examination followed by a personal interview. The entrance test is designed to evaluate a student’s academic and general aptitude through a multi-section format.
Entrance Exam Details (Expected Format)
While the exact structure is yet to be officially released, the IIM Bangalore UG entrance exam is expected to follow a multi-section objective pattern, similar to IIM Indore’s IPMAT and other national-level aptitude tests.

- Mathematics
- Topics: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Data Interpretation, Probability, Sets, Functions
- Level: Class 10 to 12
- Type: MCQs and possibly short answer questions
- Skills tested: Calculation, logic, and mathematical reasoning

- Logical Reasoning
- Topics: Coding-Decoding, Puzzles, Blood Relations, Series, Syllogisms, Data Sufficiency
- Skills tested: Analytical thinking and reasoning speed

- English Language
- Topics: Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary, Sentence Rearrangement
- Skills tested: Comprehension, verbal reasoning, and language usage
- Topics: Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary, Sentence Rearrangement
- General Knowledge
- Topics: Static GK, Current Affairs, Business Awareness, Economics basics
- Skills tested: Awareness of current and world events, especially relevant to economics and tech trends
- Topics: Static GK, Current Affairs, Business Awareness, Economics basics
Duration & Marking (Tentative):
- Total Duration: 90 to 120 minutes
- Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Marking Scheme: To be announced, but may follow a +4 for correct, -1 for wrong pattern (as used in IPMAT and other IIM entrance exams)
The entrance exam will be followed by a Personal Interview (PI) round for shortlisted candidates.
