The Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) is India’s 21st IIM, established in the financial capital of the country. Formerly known as the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), the institute was established by the Government of India in 1963 with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Labor Organization (ILO). The conversion of NITIE to an IIM was approved by the Union Cabinet and signed into law in August 2023, giving it the status of an Institute of National Importance.

IIM Mumbai holds a unique position due to its legacy, combining the benefits of a top management school with a strong technical and operational heritage. It is highly regarded for its special focus on Logistics and Supply Chain Management, serving as the nodal hub for capacity building in the PM Gati Shakti Master plan. The institute has consistently been ranked among the top B-schools in India, securing the 6th position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for 2025. Its picturesque campus is known as “God’s Own Campus” and is surrounded by lakes.

The admission process for the MBA batch of 2026-28 relies on your CAT 2025 score. It follows a multi-stage selection process leading to a final composite score calculation. The three primary stages are:

  1. Stage 1: CAT-based Shortlisting
Candidates must meet the minimum sectional and overall CAT percentiles to be considered for the Personal Interview (PI) round.
  2. Stage 2: Personal Interview (PI)

  3. Stage 3: Final Selection
A final merit list is generated based on a composite score, which includes the CAT score, PI performance, and the Application Rating (AR) score for academic record and work experience.
