DoMS IIT Madras

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras in Chennai, India is home to the Department of Management Studies, or DoMS, of IIT Madras, a business school.

In 1959, IIT Madras was founded. Beginning in 1959, the IIT Madras Department of Humanities and Social Sciences offered management education through the M. Tech. (Industrial Engineering) programme. The department launched an MBA programme in 2001. In April 2004, the Department of Management Studies was established.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for business institutions in India placed the Department of business Studies at IIT Madras in 10th place in 2022.

The first IIT to offer management programmes is DOMS IIT Madras. The institute’s MBA programme is the most well-liked one. A valid CAT score is required for admission to the programme, and this is followed by a personal interview. When evaluating candidates for the final selection, DoMS IIT Madras also takes into account their prior academic performance, work experience, gender and academic diversity, and other accomplishments. Every year, DoMS IIT Madras shortlists about 70 applicants for MBA programmes.

Ordinary Candidates

A valid result from the Indian Institutes of Management’s Common Admissions Test (CAT).

Graduates from a recognised or reputable university with a first class degree or 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD) in any discipline (or professional qualification comparable to that of a University degree recognised by the UGC).

Students in their final year of the aforementioned curriculum are also qualified to apply.

If chosen, these applicants will be accepted provisionally, provided they fulfil all prerequisites for the qualifying degree prior to the program’s start date and provide a provisional certificate of completion within two months after enrolment.
IIT graduates are excluded from the CAT score if they have a CGPA of eight or higher on a ten-point scale.

Company Sponsored Candidates

  • To be sponsored by their employers and forward their application through proper channel.
  • Minimum work experience of two years in the sponsoring organization.
  • Valid score in the Common Admissions Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management.
  • Graduates (or professional qualification equivalent to that of a University degree recognized by the UGC) in any discipline with first class or 60% marks (earned in their degree from a recognized/reputed University.

Defense Level Personnel

  • Personnel in the armed forces are not required to take the national entrance exam. ought to apply via the appropriate government offices.
  • Graduates in any discipline with a minimum of 55% of the possible points (obtained from an accredited or reputable university) or a professional qualification recognised by the UGC as being equal to a university degree.

Non- Resident Indian

  • Valid GMAT Score
  • Final year students enrolled in the aforementioned programme are also eligible to apply. Graduates in any discipline with a first class or 60% grade point average from an accredited university, or a professional qualification recognised by the UGC, are also eligible. If chosen, these applicants will be accepted provisionally, provided they fulfil all prerequisites for the qualifying degree prior to.

Shortlisting Process

COMPOSITE SCORE will be calculated with due weights to:

  • Past academic performance,
  • Work experience
  • Academic Diversity
  • Gender

Final Selection:

Candidates from all categories shortlisted based on the composite score shall be called for a Personal Interview.

The final selection will be based on the following with due weights to each of the components:

  • Reflective Writing and Personal Interview
  • Composite score
  • Other Achievements

DOMS IIT Madras released the IIT Madras CAT cutoff for MBA on their official website – doms.iitm.ac.in. IIT Madras MBA cut off 2023 for the general category is 96 and for OBC, ST and SC 85 percentile is the required CAT cutoff score.
