In India, the T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) is a private, independent business school. It is situated in the Karnataka university town of Manipal and was founded in 1980. With dual accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), it is the fifth management institute in India. TAPMI was founded in 1980 by Shri. T. A. Pai in Manipal. Its first fully residential two-year PGDM programme, with a batch size of 48, started in 1984–85.
Additionally, it offers two-year totally residential courses in marketing and sales management, human resources, and banking and financial services (BKFS and HR). The Association of MBAs granted accreditation to T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) on December 4, 2018, and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business on April 29, 2012.
Ranking:
The National Institutional Ranking Framework for Business Schools in India placed TAPMI at number 35 in 2021. In Outlook India’s “Top 150 Private MBA Institutions” of 2020, it was also ranked seventh among Indian private MBA programmes.

TAPMI Manipal: Admission Process
Minimum Eligibility
A graduate degree with at least 50% of the required credits from an accredited university
(Students in their last year may also apply). However, if they receive less than 50% for their graduation, their admission would be revoked.
Particular Qualifications for Technology Management MBA:
- Two years or more of job experience:
Should be eager to pursue a career in the technology sector and be able to show interest in the field during the technical interview round.
The same procedure used for all programmes is explained in the Admission Process section below. - Additional components for selection may be included in each MBA programme depending on its own merit list and shortlist, which are distinct and unrelated to one another.
- For applicants who apply to more than one programme, being selected or made to the short list in one does not ensure they will be selected or made to the short list in the other.

TAPMI takes into account a candidate’s whole profile in addition to their test results. For instance, scholastic record (10th, 12th, and graduation grades), employment history, extracurricular activities accomplished, athletic accomplishments, social activity involvement, entrepreneurial spirit, diversity, potential for leadership, integrity, and values. Depending on the candidate profile and how well it fits a particular programme, the entrance exam cutoff may change slightly from year to year among programmes.

Stage 2: Admission Process (GD-PI)
The stage II of TAPMI admission process consists of Group Discussion (GD), Extempore and Personal Interview (PI).
Group Discussion (GD): GD assesses an applicant’s capacity for contributing to and enhancing group interactions. Additionally, GD assesses an applicant’s proficiency in communication, collaboration, assertiveness, confidence, problem-solving, and persuasion.
Extempore: Applicants will be assigned a topic on the spot and have two to three minutes to talk. The abilities put to the test include presence of mind, coherence, and articulation.
Personal Interview (PI): TAPMI assesses the applicant’s general disposition and suitability for management education, taking into account elements like communication, leadership, social awareness, self-awareness, and self-management.
*TAPMI selects intelligent and worthy applicants each year by making appropriate adjustments to the GD/PI process. The shortlisted candidates will be notified of any modifications to the admissions procedure for 2024–2026.
