The Ministry of Education and the Government of India created the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Act 2017 that founded the IIM in Rohtak. According to the Indian Ministry of Education, IIM Rohtak is a nationally significant institute.

The minimum eligibility criteria for PGP admission are based on the aggregate CAT percentile. IIM Rohtak generally does not use sectional cutoffs. The qualifying cutoffs for the PGP Batch 2026-28 (based on CAT 2025 scores) are as follows:

The admission process of IIM Rohtak :
The PGP admission process at IIM Rohtak is a five-stage sequence:
- Stage I: Online Registration for the PGP batch, requiring candidates to meet the minimum category-wise CAT percentile cutoffs to be eligible to register.
- Stage II: Personal Interview (PI), where only the shortlisted candidates from Stage I are invited to participate in the Online PI.
- Stage III: Final Selection List is prepared using a merit/rank list based on the composite scores from CAT, PI performance, and Diversity factors.
- Stage IV: Offer for Provisional Admission is extended to selected candidates based on their rank and seat availability according to Government of India reservation rules.
- Stage V: Reporting for joining the PGP Batch, which includes validation of CAT score, verification of documents, and payment of the required fees.
The final merit list for the PGP admission is prepared using a composite score that weights performance across three key components:
