IIM Kozhikode: Fees, Eligibility, Admission, Programmes, Cut Off, etc.

The State Government of Kerala and the Government of India worked together to establish the institute in 1996. The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode is located in the Kunnamangalam Area of the old city of Calicut in Kerala, spanning over approximately 112.5 acres of land on two hillocks. With one of the most beautiful and oxygen-rich campuses in the nation, IIMK offers a holistic education to all of its residents thanks to its top-notch facilities, which include air-conditioned classrooms, guest care spaces, and LAN/WAN connectivity.

A three-phase selection procedure is used by IIM Kozhikode for admissions to the PGP 2023–2025 cohort. Below are the specifics of the three phases:

Stage 1: Candidates who meet the minimum eligibility requirements register. The following minimal requirements for eligibility will be applied to all candidates who have chosen to enrol in IIM Kozhikode during Stage 1. Candidates will only be taken into consideration if they receive a positive (greater than zero) raw score in every part of the CAT 2022. A minimum of 60% in aggregate marks must be obtained by all candidates holding a graduation degree1 in their graduating degree, and in order to be eligible, candidates without a degree in any of the CA, ICWA, or CS fields must score at least 50% overall.

Stage 2: Shortlisting for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI)

Eligible candidates who successfully completed Stage 1 registration for admission to IIMK will be summoned for a personal interview (PI) during Stage 2. Candidates in each category will be shortlisted be prepared using an aggregate index score (AIS). The AIS is calculated based on CAT 2023 performance, Class X and XII, Gender/Academic diversity, and work experience. Each component in the AIS weighs as follows:

The details of each component are given as follows:

  1. CAT Index Score.

 
The CAT Index Score will be calculated using scaled scores from three sections of CAT 2023, each with equal weightage. The CAT Index Score will have a weight of 45%.

2.  SSC/Class X/IB/Equivalent Percentage Score

The percentage of marks acquired in SSC/Class X/IB/Equivalent will be computed based on the aggregate marks of all subjects on the marks sheet or grade sheet, regardless of whether the Board considers them for percentage calculation. The SSC/Class X/IB/Equivalent percentage scores are modified by dividing them by the maximum percentage score attained in the Board, then multiplying by 25. The database of SSC/Class X/IB/Equivalent percentage scores for all CAT applicants for the past three years, including the present year, is used to determine the highest % score for a Board.

3. HSC/Class XII/IB/Equivalent/Diploma Score

The percentage of marks acquired in HSC/Class XII/IB/Equivalent/Diploma will be determined based on the aggregate marks of all subjects on the marks sheet or grade sheet, regardless of whether the Board considers them for percentage calculation. The
Percentage scores for HSC/Class XII/IB/Equivalent/Diploma are adjusted by dividing each score by the maximum percentage score attained in that Board’s stream, and then multiplying by 15. A database of HSC/Class XII/IB/Equivalent/Diploma percentage scores from all CAT applicants over the past three years, including the present year, is used to identify the highest percentage score of a stream in a Board. Candidates who have not gotten their HSC/Class XII/IB/Equivalent/Diploma results because of the Covid19 epidemic.

4. Gender and Academic Diversity Score

Marks are given for gender/academic diversity. Candidates with a gender diversity score of 10 must be female or transgender. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a non-engineering/technology area are eligible for the academic diversity programme.
A score of five. Candidates can receive one of two diversity scores: gender diversity or intellectual diversity, but not both.

5. Work Experience Score

a) Up to 5% weight will be given to previous work/professional experience as of December 31, 2023, based on length of service. Only candidates with full-time remunerated work experience following graduation (CA, CMA, ICWA, or CS) * will be considered. Part-time/Project/Internship/Work experience gained through articleships, pre-graduation, or fellowships will not be considered. Candidates with at least 6 months of experience are eligible for a work experience score. Annexure 1 includes a sample illustration of the granted scores.

b) For self-employment/partnership experience, full-time self-employment must be documented with income tax returns from previous years of work or assessment before to CAT registration, as well as two of the following documents:

i. Registered partnership deed

 ii. MCA/RoC firm registration certificate

iii. GST registration of firm

iv. Audited statements of account (for at least two consecutive years)  v. DIPP Certificate of Recognition

At least one of these documents must include the firm’s name and the candidate’s name as Promoter or Director. The other document must include the firm’s name or registration number. The later date in these two supplied documents will be used as the start date for self-employment.

Stage 2) Final Shortlist

Short-listed candidates will go through a written ability test (WAT) and a personal interview (PI). IIM Kozhikode will conduct WAT and PI in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai, and New Delhi. The complete process will last a half-day (morning or afternoon). During this procedure, candidates will write an essay, followed by PI. The essay topic will be announced at the venue shortly before the WAT session. During the PI process, the panel evaluates each candidate’s academic performance, social awareness, attitude, personality, communication skills, and job experience. The resume score is determined by academic qualifications, professional certifications, and overall quality.

Reservation Policy

IIM Kozhikode will adopt the Government of India’s reservation policy for admission to Central Educational Institutions (CEIs).
