The minimal CAT overall percentile is at the 80%ile, same as it was previous year. This year, when shortlisting applicants for the AWT-PI stage, IIM Ahmedabad gave CAT 2023 scores 65% of the total weight. Shortlisting is carried out at several phases using the Application Rating Score, which is acquired as of July 31, 2024, through the 10th and 12th grades, graduation score, and job experience.

This is a brief summary of the most recent admissions policy and selection standards of IIM Ahmedabad for admission to the PGP batch of 2025–2027 via CAT 2024. The weighting of each component is explained in the article.

IIM Ahmedabad Selection Criteria Highlights

  • For the General Category, the minimum CAT cutoff is 80 percentile, with 70 in each section.
  • The interview shortlisting composite score consists of 35% of the Application Rating Score and 65% of CAT 2024.
  • Ten points are awarded for each of the tenth, twelfth, and graduation grades, which vary according on the academic stream and category (more on this below). Work experience is also a part of it.
  • The formula for calculating work experience marks is { (Total Months – 11 months) *.20 }.

  • AC-1: Medicine and Surgery-based subjects
  • AC-2: Professional Degrees like CA, CS, ICWA, FIAI
  • AC-3:All Commerce, Economics, Finance, and Management Related Degrees
  • AC-4: Engineering, Technology, and Architecture-related Areas
  • AC-5: Arts/Humanities Related Degrees, Design, Education, Fashion Design/Technology, Law, and Rural Studies
  • AC-6: Any other discipline not mentioned

Work Experience

Step 3- Shortlisting for Analytical Writing Test (AWT) & Personal Interview (PI)

Five percent of the applicants from each academic category (AC) that have at least 100 applicants from SC, ST, NC, OBC, and PwD overall who appear for CAT-2024 will be shortlisted for AWT & PI based on the composite score “CS.”

Composite Score- Application Rating* 0.35 + CAT *0.65

That is 65% of CAT Score + 35% of Application Rating

The additional candidates to be shortlisted for AWT & PI will be chosen based on the composite score “CS” following the elimination of the candidates chosen in Stage 1 from each category (General, NC-OBC, SC, ST, and PWD).

Step 4- Final Selection Process

Normalization of Application Score-  The normalized AR score of an applicant is equal to their AR score divided by the average of the top 50 AR scores from the group of candidates who appear for CAT-2024 and apply to IIMA.
