IIFT Kolkata

Situated in the MADURDAHA Area, behind Ruby General Hospital and with a view of Green Ridge, the IIFT Campus in Kolkata is regarded as one of the best in the country’s east. The campus, which occupies seven acres, has two residential buildings for students and visiting teachers in addition to one academic and one administrative building. It never fails to astound guests, whether it’s the ethereal beauty of the architectural architecture or the grandeur of the campus in full bloom during the winter. The campus itself is incredibly gorgeous, featuring well-kept lush gardens and water features along with architecturally constructed structures. In addition to first-rate dorm accommodations for students, the campus offers fully air-conditioned lecture halls with contemporary audio-visual aids, conference rooms for round-table discussions, a 500-seat theatre, an MDP Centre, a computer centre, indoor games and a sports field.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • At least three-year bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of 50% of the possible points [45% if the candidate is a member of the Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), or Persons with Disability (PWD) category].
  • Applicants who want to take a qualifying exam may also apply, provided that they submit documentation of their necessary qualifications by October 7, 2023.
  • Age restrictions do not apply.

Selection Process:

Academic consistency, academic diversity, gender diversity, and work experience are combined with the results of the IIFT Written Examination, Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD)/Extempore, and Personal Interview (PI) to determine admission to the IIFT MBA (IB)-Full Time 2023–2025.

There will be two steps to the process, which are as follows:

Stage 1: Short-listing

Sectional cut offs and IIFT entrance exam percentiles will be used to determine which candidates are shortlisted for WAT-GD/Extempore-PI. The number of candidates to be shortlisted in accordance with the number of seats available determines the minimal cut-off percentile. Under IIFT’s gender diversity policy, the cut-off marks for female candidates in all categories are two below the real cut-off. Marks from classes X and XII will be taken into consideration in addition to the previously mentioned condition. Non-engineers may receive up to 5 points at IIFT in order to maintain class balance.
The IIFT shortlisting criteria for Stage I candidates are compiled in Table 1.

Stage 2: (WAT-GD/Extempore-PI):

The final selection process will include additional factors such as job experience, gender diversity, academic consistency, and academic diversity in addition to the maximum weighting assigned to IIFT results. Furthermore, the candidate must show up for the following:

  1. Writing Ability Test (WAT): An essay on a predetermined topic must be submitted by the shortlisted candidates. The primary criteria for evaluation will be comprehension skills, clarity, and the manner in which concepts are presented and expressed.
  2. Group Discussion (GD): The shortlisted applicants are required to hold group discussions on a predetermined topic.
The ability of the candidate to exhibit leadership, teamwork, communication, substance, and the capacity to offer fresh perspectives on the subject will be the main criteria used for GD evaluation.
  3. Personal Interview: Those who made the short list are required to show up for a personal interview. The candidate’s academic, extracurricular, and analytical performance are the main factors considered in the evaluation.
  4. The Institute maintains the right to alter the methodologies of evaluation that are announced.
