With backing from the Birla Group of Companies, the Birla Institute of Management Technology was founded in 1988 under the auspices of the Birla Academy of Art and Culture. The business school was founded by the late Basant Kumar Birla and Sarala Birla, the chairperson of the B K Birla Group of Companies.

Every year, BIMTECH grows into a miniature version of India. Students attend it from practically every state in India as well as a few other nations. BIMTECH functions similarly to an international business school. BIMTECH: PGDM Admission Process

Following are the step by step ways of admission:

  • Procurement of Form: Application form (common for all the programmes) is available on our website www.bimtech.ac.in.
  • Filling up the application form
  • Application form Fee Application form can be filled online followed by paying Rs. 2000/- through Credit/ Debit Card.

Call For Interview

The Personal Interview (PI) is the second step. We propose to hold an early round (First Phase) of the PI process after the third week of December 2023 itself, which would be well before the declaration of CAT/XAT results. This will help to minimise potential overlap of the selection process with other B Schools and also facilitate the early selection/offer of admission. The majority of applicants who apply by December 2nd, 2023, or before, will be invited in this case based on their profile as determined by:

  • Consistency and good past academic performance
  • Relevant work experience (if any) that brings value to the class room learning

Eligibility Criteria:

(A) Merit/ General Category

85 percent seats in all courses will be filled through general category. For distribution of seats, please visit http://bimtech.ac.in/admissions/. Regular admission is granted to those applicants who have fulfilled all the admission requirements and whose names appear in the merit list of successful applicants.

ESCS (Economically & Socially Challenged Students ) Category – [SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Minority Class (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians/Parsis & Jains)] :

5% seats are reserved for the candidates coming from ESCS category to bring social diversity in the class. A weightage of 5 points would be given while calculating merit to facilitate the entry of such candidates. 15% Concession to SC/ST and 7.5% Concession to OBC/Minority Communities in Hostel Accommodation Charges will also be given under this category.

Note: 5% seats reserved for ESCS category will be opened for general category, if not filled by ESCS category.

Eligibility for General Category:

  1. Minimum 50 percent marks in Graduation. Candidates appearing in Final Year Graduation Examination (1st attempt) in Summer 2024 can also apply. Such candidates will have to produce final year result of Graduation with min. 50% marks in aggregate on or before 31st October 2024 failing which their provisional admission will be automatically cancelled.
    1. For admission to PGDM & PGDM (IB), an applicant must have a valid CAT 2023 or valid XAT 2024 or valid CMAT 2024 or valid GMAT 2022/2023-24 score.
    2. For admission to PGDM (RM) & PGDM (IBM) an applicant must have valid CAT/MAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT score.

B) Other Categories

Eligibility for Corporate Sponsored Category

  1. 50% of the possible points in graduation. Applicants may also present if they plan to take the Final Year Graduation Examination on their first try in the summer of 2024. On or before October 31, 2024, such candidates must submit their final year graduation results with a minimum of 50% of the possible points; else, their provisional admission will be immediately revoked.
  2. When submitting the first tuition installment, the applicant must present the following documentation in order to be qualified under the Corporate Sponsored Category. (Provisionally in the final week of March, 2024)
  3. A letter of sponsorship from the company in the format specified by the Institute is needed.
  4. The sponsoring company’s most recent financial filings must show a minimum yearly turnover of Rs. 50 crore. (Audited copy of the profit and loss statement and balance sheet from the previous fiscal year, or 2022–23). The initial tuition installment will not be approved if a self-attested photocopy is not presented.

Eligibility for NRI Category

  1. 50% of the possible points in graduation. Applicants may also present if they plan to take the Final Year Graduation Examination on their first try in the summer of 2024. On or before October 31, 2024, such candidates must submit their final year graduation results with a minimum of 50% of the possible points; else, their provisional admission will be immediately revoked.
  2. It is necessary to have a copy of your passport, a valid visa, or proof of your NRI status, all legally attested by an official notary public, an Indian mission or consulate, the Indian Chamber of Commerce in your home country, or an Indian mission or embassy in the foreign nation.

Eligibility for Supernumerary Seats

  • 50% of the possible points in graduation. Applicants may also present if they plan to take the Final Year Graduation Examination on their first try in the summer of 2024. On or before October 31, 2024, such candidates must submit their final year graduation results with a minimum of 50% of the possible points; else, their provisional admission will be immediately revoked.
  • The candidates will need to provide documentation proving that they are PIOs, OCIs, foreign nationals, SAARC nationals, or children of Indian workers in the Gulf.
    Only Supernumerary category applicants will be admitted under this category based solely on merit.

Requirement for ESCS Category (SC/ST/OBC/MC/EWS)

  1. 50% of the possible points in graduation. Applicants may also present if they plan to take the Final Year Graduation Examination on their first try in the summer of 2024. On or before October 31, 2024, such candidates must submit their final year graduation results with a minimum of 50% of the possible points; else, their provisional admission will be immediately revoked.
  2. An applicant must have a valid CAT 2023, valid XAT 2024, valid CMAT 2024, or valid GMAT 2022/2023-2024 score in order to be considered for admission to PGDM and PGDM (IB).
  3. Admission to the PGDM (RM) and PGDM (IBM) requires a valid score on the CAT, MAT, XAT, GMAT, or CMAT.

The candidate shall be required to submit any one of the following in support of his/ her claim for seats under ESCS Category :

  1. For Minority Community certificate, candidate can submit any one of the following:
    1. Self declaration as per Format I
    2. Caste/Community certificate issued by registered Religious Authority
  2. For admission under EWS Category, the family income of the applicant from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8,00,000/- p.a.

STEP 3: Result

Announcement of the Final Selection List:
The final selection list is created with the candidate’s:

  • Prior academic achievement
  • Scores from entrance exams (CAT, XAT, GMAT, CMAT, MAT)
  • Performance in the Extempore and Personal Interview according to their weights
    Work Experience (if any)
  • Additional parameters according to the weightages table, if applicable
    The final selection list (tentatively) would be released by the last week of March 2024.

STEV 4: Admission

Fee Transmission:

In order to secure their admission, the chosen applicants must pay the first tuition installment by the deadline specified in the offer letter; if they don’t, the offer will be extended to the candidates on the waitlist. The cost of housing and boarding would be paid separately thereafter.

Any requests for an extension of the fee submission deadline are not entertained by the institute.

Start of the Session

All programmes’ academic sessions are anticipated to begin in June 2024 (tentative).
