Why is Higher Education Important?

In this article we are going to discuss about all the possibilities that one can opt after graduation.

Options after Graduation

Taking up a Job:

If you are willing to take up a job after graduation, then firstly you need to create an impressive and strong resume and do comprehensive research for your respective field. This option provides financial stability and work experience, an early start, etc. But it may also turn out to be a bad decision as in most cases it is hard to get a decent paying job with just a bachelor’s degree. Freshers find it hard to fit in the corporate environment as they lack experience.

If you are willing to take the risk up a notch and are confident enough to showcase your creative skills and be self- employed, become an entrepreneur. This requires indomitable spirit to pull it off along with an innovative business idea, the right usage of available resources and an efficient action plan. All this cumulates to the dream of being self-employed. Entrepreneurship gives independence, autonomy, recognition and flexibility.

Higher Education or Post Graduation:

Pursuing post-graduation is one of the safest and wisest paths after college. Keeping a close check on the literacy rate worldwide and the top-notch competition prevailing among industries and individuals, it is crucial to contemplate the fact of the need to pursue higher education.

To pursue a Higher Education doesn’t mean you have to change your stream or field. Some of the Post- Graduation courses commonly opted by graduates are PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management), M. Tech (Master of Technology), Ph.D. In any respective field after pursuing a Master’s Degree, M.B.A. (Master of Business Administration), etc.

Reasons for pursuing Higher Education

There are various reasons as to why higher education is important. Some of them are:

1) More Opportunities are created with Higher Education –

A Higher Education trains you in your respective field more effectively, gives in-depth knowledge, enables you to understand complex subjects.

2) Staying Competitive-

In these economic times, finding jobs is not easy. The number of new career opportunities is less in proportion to the number of job seekers in the career market. Higher Education gives a competitive edge. It allows you to have better job security. It’s not enough to have a degree in engineering or math. Employers want their candidates to be well-spoken with strong proficiencies in communication and writing. They might want to see an engineer who has taken a couple of years of French, and they delight in finding a math major who minored in public communications. A post-graduation enables students to build this complex list of skills.

3) Learning New Skills-

Learning new skills encourages you to be more creative, to think, analyze, be innovative and be inquisitive.

4) Personal Development-

It makes you organizational, more disciplined. You become more professional and gain many work-related skills.

“Let us never be betrayed into saying we have finished our education; because that would mean we had stopped growing.”
