WHAT IS NMAT?
The NMAT (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies Management Aptitude Test) is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admission to MBA and other management programs at NMIMS University and several other reputed B-Schools across India and abroad.

NMAT ELIGIBILITY
The NMAT by GMAC is a standardized entrance exam for admissions to various graduate business programs in India and other countries.
1. General Eligibility Requirements
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree (10+2+3/4 format) in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Minimum Marks: A minimum aggregate score of 50% in the bachelor’s degree is typically required (45% for SC/ST candidates).
- Final Year Students: Individuals in the final year of their bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply, provided they can furnish the necessary documents upon completion.
- Age Limit: There is no age restriction for taking the NMAT exam.
- Attempts: Candidates can take the NMAT exam up to three times within a single testing window, with the best score generally considered for admission. Note that NMIMS University only accepts the score from the first attempt.
- Work Experience: While not mandatory for all programs, having prior work experience of at least 2–3 years can be advantageous during the admission process.

Individual institutions may have additional requirements, varying from the general guidelines.
NMIMS University
- MBA & MBA HR Programs: Require a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks.
- MBA Pharmaceutical Management: Candidates need a bachelor’s degree (in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, MBBS, BDS, Science, BAMS, BHMS, B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Biotechnology) or a postgraduate degree (in Psychology, Sociology, or Economics) with a minimum of 50% marks. Preference is given to candidates with two or more years of work experience in pharmaceutical companies.
ISB (Indian School of Business)
- Advanced Management Programme in Business Analytics: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Science (with mathematics or programming as part of the curriculum) and at least two years of full-time work experience.
3. International Applicants
- Must have a recognized bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks.
- Proficiency in English is required, often demonstrated through tests like TOEFL or IELTS.
- Some institutions may require a valid GMAT score and relevant work experience.

Registering for the NMAT by GMAC™ Exam
- Create Account: Go to www.mba.com/nmat, click “Register for NMAT by GMAC™,” and create an account using a valid email address.
- Complete Profile: Fill in the required details under ‘Manage NMAT Profile,’ including your mobile number and the country where you wish to take the exam.
- Verify Email: Check your email for a verification message and follow the instructions. If necessary, check your junk/spam folder or click the “Resend Email Verification” button.
- Access Dashboard: Click the “NMAT by GMAC™ Dashboard” button on the mba.com/nmat page to access the Candidate Dashboard.
- Fill Application: Complete the application form on the Candidate Dashboard. Ensure your name and date of birth match your Photo ID exactly, as you will not be allowed to change these details after submission.
- School Preferences: Select the schools to send your scores to in the School Preferences section. The registration fee includes sending scores to up to five (5) programs. Additional score reports can be sent for an extra fee of INR 400 + applicable taxes per report.
- Upload Photo: You must upload a recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) that matches your Photo ID. This photo will appear on your admit card. The photograph should be in JPG, PNG, or GIF format, not exceed 1 MB, and have a white or lightly colored background.
- Pay Fee: Pay the Test Registration fee of INR 3000 + applicable taxes.
- Inquiries: For registration inquiries, email nmatsupport@gmac.com.
Scheduling the Exam
- Book Slot: After registration and payment, the “Book Exam Slot” button will appear on the Candidate Dashboard. Click this to reach the scheduling system.
- Select Mode: Choose your preferred exam mode: “At Test Centre” or “Online Proctored at Home”.
- Note: Once booked, you cannot reschedule to a different mode for the same attempt.
- Select Details: Select the Country, City, Test Centre, and your preferred exam date and time from the available slots, which are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Time slots are automatically shown in your time zone.
- Admit Card: You will be able to download your admit card from your dashboard once the payment is realized.
Retakes
- Attempts Limit: You may take the NMAT by GMAC™ exam a maximum of three times within a testing cycle (from July 1st to June 30th of the next year). This includes your first attempt plus up to two retakes.
- Retake Fee: The retake fee is INR 3000 + applicable taxes.
- Scheduling after a Valid Score: If you have received a valid score, you may book your next attempt immediately, but the exam date must be scheduled at least 15 days after the previous attempt.
- Scheduling after No Show/Incomplete: If your scorecard shows “No Show,” “NDA Refused,” or “Exam Incomplete” status, you may schedule a new exam slot 24 hours later.
