The institute offers a robust curriculum through its flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) and other programs.

The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) is the flagship 2-year full-time residential program at IIM Tiruchirappalli. The institute also offers a specialized PGPM-HR program and a PGPBM (MBA for Working Executives) program.

JAP Process

The admission process for PGPM and PGPM-HR programs involves the Joint Admission Process (JAP) (previously known as CAP), which is centralized among IIMs (IIM Raipur, IIM Kashipur, IIM Ranchi, and IIM Tiruchirappalli). Candidates apply through a single application for all participating institutes.

Shortlisting and PI Stage

Candidates are initially shortlisted based on their CAT percentile (sectional and overall minimum cutoffs), academic record, and diversity factors. Shortlisted candidates attend a centralized Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT). The final merit list is then prepared by IIM Trichy using its own institute-specific weightages applied to the scores from these components.

IIM Tiruchirappalli uses the CAT percentile as the primary screening tool for shortlisting candidates for the Personal Interview (PI). Meeting these minimum cutoffs is necessary but does not guarantee a shortlist. The following table outlines the minimum performance required for candidates to be considered for PI shortlisting for the PGPM 2026-28 batch:

Key Details on Weightage
  • PI Score Constraint: Candidates who score in the lowest 20% of their respective category during the PI round will not be considered for final admission to the PGPM batch.
  • Academic Scores: The 10% weightage for academic scores is broken down into Normalized Score in 10th Standard (2%), Normalized Score in 12th Standard (3%), and Performance at the Undergraduate level (5%).
  • UG Formula: The UG performance score is calculated using a discipline weightage factor (e.g., Engineering/Technology receives 0.7, while Arts/Science/Commerce/Management receives 1.0) multiplied by the percentage marks, encouraging non-engineering backgrounds.

Diversity: Academic Diversity (2%) is awarded to candidates who secured a First Class or above in their Undergraduate degree. Gender Diversity (6%) is awarded exclusively to female candidates.

Work Experience Scoring

A 10% weightage is allocated to full-time remunerative work experience earned after graduation. Experience is scored based on the following brackets, where the maximum marks (10 points) are awarded for experience between 24 and 29 months:

Work Experience (in Months)Allocation of Weightage Points
