The Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) is India’s 21st IIM, established in the financial capital of the country.

Formerly known as the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), the institute was established by the Government of India in 1963 with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Labor Organization (ILO).

The conversion of NITIE to an IIM was approved by the Union Cabinet and signed into law in August 2023, giving it the status of an Institute of National Importance.

IIM Mumbai OSCM: Eligibility and Admission Criteria

It is highly regarded for its special focus on Logistics and Supply Chain Management, serving as the nodal hub for capacity building in the PM Gati Shakti Master plan. The institute has consistently been ranked among the top B-schools in India, securing the 6th position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for 2025.

IIM Mumbai is a government institute, established in 1963 by the Government of India. IIM Mumbai is an institute of national importance. 

Admission to the full-time MBA programs is based on the Common Admission Test (CAT). IIM Mumbai offers three full-time, two-year residential MBA programs:

Note on IIM Mumbai Eligibility: Candidates in the final year of their bachelor’s degree can also apply provisionally.

They must complete all requirements and submit their final mark sheet and degree certificate by the deadlines set by IIM Mumbai (e.g., typically June 30 and December 31 of the admission year).

IIM Mumbai sustainability management cut off is 50% for General category or 45% for reserved categories.

The admission process for the MBA batch of 2026-28 relies on your CAT 2025 score. It follows a multi-stage selection process leading to a final composite score calculation. The three primary stages are:

  1. Stage 1: CAT-based Shortlisting
    Candidates must meet the minimum sectional and overall CAT percentiles to be considered for the Personal Interview (PI) round.
  2. Stage 2: Personal Interview (PI)
    Shortlisted candidates participate in the PI, which assesses communication, analytical thinking, career goals, and motivation.
  3. Stage 3: Final Selection
    A final merit list is generated based on a composite score, which includes the CAT score, PI performance, and the Application Rating (AR) score for academic record and work experience.

Stage 1 – CAT-based Shortlisting (Minimum Percentile Cut-offs)

Candidates must achieve the minimum sectional and overall CAT 2025 percentiles listed below to be eligible for the PI shortlist:

Stage 2 – Composite Score Components and Weightage

The final composite score is calculated using the following weightages for the MBA Admission 2026-28:

Academic Performance Calculation:

The Academic Record and Work Experience (ARWE) score uses an Application Rating (AR) formula: AR = [0.70*(A+B+C) + 0.20*D].

  • A: Rating Score for Class 10 performance.
  • B: Rating Score for Class 12 performance.
  • C: Rating Score for Bachelor’s Degree performance.
  • D: Rating Score for Work Experience.
